La Escollera Beach Ixtapa
Discover Playa Escolleras, a special spot at the western end of Playa El Palmar. To get here, just take the public access point from the parking lot at La Marina Ixtapa, right next to the condominium area.
Walking along this beach is a truly relaxing experience. At the end of the path, you'll reach a jetty where it's common to see people fishing, taking photos, or watching the acrobatics of the athletes who gather here to surf, bodyboard, and bodysurf. In fact, this place is so unique it often hosts local, state, and even international tournaments!
You won't find any hotels here—the area is surrounded by private condos and the Ixtapa Marina, where you'll find restaurants and a few shops. We recommend taking a stroll in the afternoon and walking out onto the breakwater to enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Please note that pets are not allowed, as the beach holds Blue Flag certification.
Very close by is the turtle camp. From October to April, it's common for sea turtles to come ashore to nest, so you might witness this natural wonder or even participate in a baby turtle release.
