Small and beautiful, but it holds many stories and myths; people started to call it La Madera because in the 1920's it was used to load ships, from around the world, with many types of local wood that Zihuatanejo was famous for having throughout its rolling, emerald colored hills.
Part of the Paseo del Pescador, La Madera beach has smooth waves and low tides ideal for swimming, but during some seasons there is a bigger swell making it a popular surf spot inside the bay. Shore fishing, yoga and other activities make this beach one of the most popular of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. It is a very romantic stretch with breathtaking sunsets. Certainly an ideal backdrop for a "trash the dress" session, or anything else you can imagine.
