Reliving the Unforgettable Encuentro de Leyendas 2025 in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo!

The sun was shining, the waves were roaring, and the sand of majestic Playa Las Escolleras witnessed a truly spectacular event. On April 25th and 26th, 2025, the coast of Guerrero was forever marked by the celebration of the Encuentro de Leyendas, the bodysurf tournament that brought together Mexico’s most skilled wave riders.

The atmosphere was electric. From early morning, families, tourists, and sports enthusiasts gathered to watch talented athletes glide across the waves in the Men’s Open and Women’s Open categories. But one of the most emotional moments was the Legends Invitational, where veteran riders proved that experience and passion for the ocean are truly timeless.

Between cheers and applause, free bodysurf clinics were held, allowing beginners to learn basic techniques from experts. The marine art and photography exhibit captured the ocean’s essence through creative lenses, while the closing celebration ended the event on a high note with music, dancing, and awards for the winners.

Event organizer Raúl Monroy shared his excitement: “It was an honor to see the community come together to celebrate bodysurfing in such a special setting as Playa Las Escolleras. The smiles and positive energy confirmed that this sport holds a very special place in our destination.”
