In the 1950s, Mr. César Galeana Solís felt inspired to grow coffee in the highlands of the municipality. It all started when his friend, Don Rómulo, told him about federal lands in the mountains of Zihuatanejo that were ideal for coffee cultivation. Together, they began the process of establishing a coffee-growing zone in the area. They sought support from Don Ángel de la Olla, the local civil judge and municipal president, who promptly informed the state governor and secured the necessary authorization. Don César recalls traveling by horseback to Uruapan, Michoacán, and from there taking a bus to Mexico City to move the project forward.
