La Tortuga Viva, or Sea Turtle Sanctuary Playa Icacos, a registered 501(C)(3) organization, is a sea turtle conservation project located on Playa Icacos. It was founded in 2010 and it is run by 14 members from the community of Juluchuca, Guerrero, Mexico.
The staff receives training and minimal support from SEMARNAT, the Mexican Department of Environmental Protection. The Eco Resort Playa Viva supports the sanctuary by helping to raise funds needed for equipment and food stipends for the volunteers.
